Kumasi International Airport

According to a statement made by Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Kumasi International Airport is expected to open for business in June of this year. He underlined that the opening of the airport will ease the travel difficulties experienced by northern travelers, who now must travel to Accra for international flights.

The Ghana Airport Company estimates that the new facility would be used by about 800,000 passengers a year. In an interview with JoyNews, Mr. Asiamah said he was confident the facility would be operational by the end of June.

This declaration is consistent with the Finance Minister’s earlier remarks from February.
